Swansea boss Steve Cooper hails in-form Ghana skipper Andre Ayew

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has heaped praise on in-form Ghana skipper Andre Ayew after he scored in their 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers 2-0 in the Championship on Saturday.

Ayew lasted the entire duration of the game as he helped the Swans seal all three points to second on the league table, just behind Norwich City.

The 31-year-old opened the scoring in 44th minute for the visitors before Jamal Lowe added a second goal after half-time at London's Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Steve Cooper expressed his delighted to see Ayew and Lowe continue their fine form with a goal apiece.

"They are the boys playing up front and they have played well all season,” Cooper told the club's official website.

“But, in that position, you will always get judged on the goals and assists you get, which is fair enough.

"They are scoring, Andre told me he was due a goal, while Jamal has scored quite a few recently.

"They know the responsibility they have, and hopefully they can keep it going.

He added, "It was important for Jamal to score in consecutive games, it was a brilliant goal and that is what Jamal does, running in behind and getting in on the goalkeeper."

"He made it look easier than what it was with the defender covering and him running at full speed.

"It was a great pass from Matt Grimes too."

The strike increases Ayew's goal tally to eight, having featured in 20 matches so far and is currently the club's top scorer.
