A former Black Stars video analyst, Gerard Nus has offered his thoughts on the performance of CK Akonnor, who is the head coach of the Ghana national team.
The 46-year-old has been in charge of the Black Stars since 2020 and has been able to qualify the country for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] that will come up in Cameroon next year.
The Spanish training in an interview offered his verdict about how the former Asante Kotoko coach has fared so far in the helms of affairs.
“As a coach, it always a tricky one to judge a coach. You would need to be in his shoes to know the problems he might be facing before you pass judgment," he told Space FM.
“We only analyse coaches from their games perspectives, but it goes beyond that."
According to Nus, teams could only be judged by their performance at major tournaments or when they play against big teams.
“We see good performance from the team sometimes, but the most important thing is when they perform well at the big tournaments That’s where you meet big teams.”
He further advised that the performance of national teams shouldn’t be based on qualifying games.
“In the qualifiers, you don’t need to be panicked”, he concluded.
