Ghana international defender Baba Abdul Rahman believes the country has got quality to win it fifth Africa Cup of Nations title but said it can only happen with a proper plan.
Ghana has failed to win a major silverware since 1982. The Black Stars have come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.
Having sealed qualification to the 2021 AFCON tournament to be hosted by Cameroon next year, the on-loan Chelsea defender wants the country to proper plan for the tournament to able to win it.
"It’s difficult to say (we can win the AFCON). With Ghana qualifying for the AFCON, it looks like a mere formality…because since I’ve been with the Black Stars, I don’t think we’ve struggled to qualify for the nation’s cup," Baba Rahman told FootballMadeinGhana.com.
"We’ve been saying to ourselves (in the past) that this is the time we have to win it but I think we need to properly plan everything.
"Get ourselves serious and I think the necessary things are done, Ghana have the quality and hopefully we can win it this time around. That is my dream," he concluded.
