Italy-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Claudio Adjapong has been ruled out of action for the rest of the 2020/2021 football season as a result of an injury.
The defender whose parent club is Sassuolo is currently on loan at Italian Serie B outfit Lecce.
Since joining the team, he has played key roles to establish himself as a key asset for the side.
On Saturday, January 30, 2021, Claud Adjapong was in action for Lecce when the team drew 1-1 against Pordenone.
Unfortunately, he picked up what looked like a nasty injury and had to be replaced by Luca Paganini in the 63rd minute.
After subsequently undergoing a scan and thorough checks, it has been confirmed that the right-back has suffered an Achilles tendon injury.
Reacting to the news in a post on his Instagram page, the Ghanaian says he is disgusted.
“Hi guys, unfortunately, the results of this morning's exam showed a rupture of the Achilles tendon!,” a post on the Instagram page of Claud Adjapong reads.
It adds, “You have written to me so many and you have made me feel the affection of this warm square, my season ends with so much anger because I would have liked to give even more to this city and society for a great goal, I hope that my future can still to be with these colors because you have given me so much from day one!
“Thanks for everything.”
The injury comes as a big blow to Lecce and could deny the team a strong finish to the Serie B season.
