Amid the controversy between several clubs and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), they can all smile to Congress next week following the arrival of the FIFA Covid-19 Relief Fund.
There has been some uneasiness in the country ahead of the September 1 Congress with clubs going the extent of seeking a court injunction after a proposal for an amendment to the Statutes was rejected by the GFA’s Executive Council.
All that can be behind the clubs and the Ghana FA now. Yesterday, a letter from FIFA sent to clubs explained why the Statutes cannot be amended at the next Congress.
On top of that, FIFA’s Covid-19 Relief Fund has finally hit the accounts of the GFA. The money which totals a sum of $500,000 is to help member associations alleviate the financial burden presented by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Clubs in the various leagues are set to receive shares from the relief fund and will be smiling to Congress on Tuesday.
