Ghanaian pair Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful featured for Columbus Crew as they were knocked out of the MLS is Back Tournament after losing on penalties to Minnesota United.
Mensah and Afful lasted the entire duration of the game as their side failed to progress to the quarter-final of the competition.
Robin Lodin opened the scoring for Minnesota United in the 18th minute of the game but Ghanaian forward Gyasi Zardes pulled level for the Black and Golds with ten minutes left.
Minnesota United goalkeeper Tyler Miller saved two penalties to see his side go through at the expense of Columbus Crew after Chase Gasper converted the clinching penalty for Minnesota.
Osvaldo Alonso, Jan Gregus, Aaron Schoenfeld, and Raheem Edwards also converted their spot-kicks for the Loons, who were deserving of passage to the next round after playing most of the match on their terms.
