Evelyn Nsiah-Asare: Only woman on new Asante Kotoko board

Asante Kotoko’s nine-member board to be chaired by the club’s current bankroller, Dr Kwame Kyei is one enviable roster.

Brains, experience, prestige, name them! The Board of Directors’ mandate is to manage the affairs of the Reds and bring glory to Asanteman.

Talk of Asanteman, talk of woman power, and Yaa Asantewaa comes to mind. A great warrior the Ejisuhemaa was.

So for Evelyn Nsiah-Asare to be appointed on Asantehene’s Kotoko Board of Directors, that’s an honourable feat.

What’s more? She is the only woman on the 9-team board. So that’s Yaa Asantewaa maybe.

Currently, a lecturer at the Sunyani Technical University, Asare brings experience as a football administrator, tutor among other vital sectors for Kotoko’s success.

She obtained a Bachelor of Education in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS) degree from the University of Education Winneba (UEW) and an MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Also, she held various positions prior to her lecturing Job. She was the Zonal Physical Education Organizer and District Sports Treasurer in for the Tano District.

Due to her passion for sports, she also doubles as the Acting Sports Manageress for the Sunyani Technical University.

Mrs Nsiah-Asare was the Vice-Chairperson for Brong Ahafo Women Football Association and the Assistant coach for the Ghana Under-14 Ladies National team.

In Ghana football history, the Nana Afia Kobi Ampem Ladies chief competed but lost the women’s football seat on the GFA Executive Council to Madam Habiba Attah by a difference of one vote.

She served on the Local Organizing Committee of the 2018 Women’s Afcon as the spokesperson.
