Ghana and RC Strasbourg forward, Abdul Majeed Waris has demanded for the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana football season following the outbreak of coronavirus.
The country's football governing body has suspended football indefinitely following the directives by the president to ban all social gatherings.
Due to the uncertainty, major European football leagues have been annulled.
CAF have requested the GFA to make a decision not later than May 5 but Majeed Waris believes it will be a very sensible decision to take should the season be cancelled.
“Yeah, for me I think it will be very sensible for something like that (league cancellation) to happen," he told Asempa FM.
"Every time I monitor the situation in Ghana, I can see the numbers increase.
"Especially when government lifted the lockdown, you can see that the numbers are going very high. So I think for the safety of everyone, let’s cancel everything (football season)”.
The GFA has arranged virtual meetings with all stakeholders to deliberate on the way forward for Ghana Football in these challenging times.
A decision is expected to be made in the coming days.
In case the season is cancelled, the GFA will need to decide on ho to select representatives for Ghana in the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
