Hearts of Oak forward, Abednego Tetteh beleives local players will not leave the scene they are paid $1000.

The salaries of local players have been questioned with reports suggesting that some players are being paid as low as Ghc200.00.

Ghana has been ranked by the CIES Observatory report as the second-highest exporter of players in Africa.

The former Bechem forward has opined that most of the local players will stay in the domestic leagues if they can paid $1,000 as monthly wages.

According to the lanky forward, he wants key stakeholders to engage on how to improve conditions pertaining to the local leagues to help retain players.

“We really have to help improve our game, so that the boys (players) can stay and play in the local league," he told FootballMadeinGhana.

Tetteh is a sojourner, having played in Sudan, Ethiopia and India. He has confessed money influenced most of these moves.

“It's because of the money that we travel…the salary was good, being paid $3000 a month is good” he noted.

“In Ghana, if players are paid even $1000, I doubt if most of them would want to travel abroad to play”

“Its a fact, most of them won’t travel, because the experience we go through over there (is worse),” he concluded.
